You Matter 2

You Matter 2 volunteers raise funds for school supplies giveaway

Try being a carpenter without a hammer.
Try being a plumber without a wrench.
It doesn’t work well.

Try being a student without a backpack, pens, pencils, erasers, folders, binders, glue sticks, scissors, pencil cases, markers, crayons, notebooks, index cards and highlighters.
You Matter 2 aims to see that area students are well-equipped to succeed as the new semester begins soon.

  • a look at the challenges school nurses face in addressing a variety of student needs.
  • enhancements to technology for teachers at H-F High School.
  • a project by a youth philanthropic organization to make sure all students have access to school supplies.
  • an inspiring story about a student who is going from Prairie State College to Stanford University.

You Matter 2 founder Destiny Watson’s outreach impacts peers, community

Nearly five years after founding You Matter 2, a service organization at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Destiny Watson is still passionate about helping to improve the lives of others. Watson, now a junior at the University of Dayton, recently traveled to the Central American nation of El Salvador as part of her human rights studies. The experience, she said, was “eye-opening.”
