Faced with falling property values, Flossmoor School District 161 Board of Education members created some financial wiggle room Monday by approving a $25.2 million tax levy that is likely to be cut by Cook County officials.

District 161 Business Manager Frances LaBella said she expects the county to reduce the school system’s final levy amount to about $21.9 million. District officials believe that amount should cover local education needs during the next fiscal year.
