Parker students perform musical play ‘Once On This Island’ Friday

Meijer groundbreaking set for next Tuesday

The Village of Flossmoor announced Wednesday that a groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited Meijer superstore will take place next Tuesday, April 28. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Meijer site, 3800 Vollmer Road.

Residents tinker with community science center idea

More than 60 area residents got a chance Monday night to hear about, discuss and try out the concept of a community science center in Homewood. Mayor Richard Hofeld said the village is committed to making the center a reality, and the meeting was the first step in getting the community involved in shaping it as it develops.

Flossmoor construction in new fiscal year includes Meijer, several village projects

With Monday’s approval of the 2016 municipal budget, Flossmoor officials are looking ahead to a number of projects taking place in the village this year.

First and foremost is the construction of the Meijer superstore at Flossmoor’s southwest corner. Contractors working for Meijer are expected to start work on the 192,000 square foot store within the next few days.

Walt’s Foods shoppers to get students’ Earth Day message

As the country marks Earth Day Wednesday, April 22, shoppers at Walt’s Foods in Homewood will get a specially created message marking the day.
