New teen center is a gift from Friends of Homewood Library

The second floor east side mezzanine in the Homewood Public Library will soon become a dedicated space for teens thanks to a generous $52,000 gift from the Friends of the Homewood Library.

James Hart 7th graders fall to Champaign Edison in state volleyball tournament

The James Hart Junior High School seventh grade volleyball team lost 25-13 and 25-19 to Champaign Edison Saturday at the Illinois Elementary School Association state volleyball tournament in Peoria.

The Panthers, 13-0 in the regular season, faced an Edison team that was 20-4.

Old time radio revisited at March 22 Homewood Library program

Take time to relive the live performances of radio programs from the 20th century when the Friends of the Homewood Library present a 2 p.m. show March 22 by Those Were the Days Radio Players at Homewood Public Library.

This group uses original music and scripts from radio plays that were family entertainment before there was television. The audience will get to see how sound effects are done helping listeners believe they’re hearing a story from a dusty ranch or a sinking ship. 

Student sculpture celebrating art on display at H-F area libraries

More than 500 students at local schools helped create the sculpture, which is on view at Flossmoor Public Library through Monday, March 16. It will be moved to Homewood Public Library next week and will finish the month at the Homewood-Flossmoor High School starting March 23.
