Construction of ramp starts as Flossmoor Road stairs come down

The Flossmoor Road stairs are no more. A longtime, quirky feature in downtown Flossmoor, the stairs have challenged generations of young bike riders. In recent years, the stairs have been badly out of compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

Second hold-up leads to arrest of men for Flossmoor video store robbery

Two men were charged with aggravated robbery after allegedly holding up a Flossmoor video store on July 25, police said.

James Meyers, 22, of 12204 Artesian Ave. in Blue Island and Theotis Thomas, 22, of 11321 Church St. in Chicago were arrested following a similar attempted robbery in southwest suburban Willow Springs, said Flossmoor Deputy Police Chief Tod Kamleiter. They are being held without bond, he said.

After months of installing underground utilities and paving, crews at Flossmoor’s Meijer site started putting up the superstore’s walls this week.

Damaged step to Metra platform repaired, but some residents still unsatisfied with condition of Homewood station tunnel

Commuters who use Homewood train station's Metra service had to make do with half the usual stairway for a few days, but a damaged step has been repaired, according to Metra officials.

Homewood station condition

The west stairway from the Homewood train station tunnel to the Metra platform was closed temporarily for repairs this week after a step was damaged. The situation has reminded residents of the general condition of the station.

Parking changes include one-side-only restriction, Parker drop-off lane

Flossmoor Village Board members Monday unanimously approved two changes in parking regulations. One affects nearly the entire village while the other is designed to alleviate morning traffic congestion at Parker Junior High School.
