Problems minimal in Homewood District 153’s initial days of PARCC testing

There’s a general sigh of relief in Homewood District 153 as only minor glitches have come up during the first five days of PARCC testing.

Pre-test training sessions helped familiarize students with the test concepts and necessary computer skills, the district’s bandwidth proved sufficient for the multi-computer use and a few minor issues have been solved and chalked up to experience.

H-F girls basketball ready for state title

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School Girls Basketball team will be competing this weekend for the Illinois High School Association’s Class 4A state title when they play Benet Academy tonight at the Illinois State University’s Redbird Arena.  

H-F chess team competes at state tournament, looks to future

The H-F Chess Team participated in the State Chess Tournament in Springfield Feb. 13-14, and according to Coach Dwight Morton, the young team did well, coming away with a 3-4 record.
