Parker honors graduates at Thursday commencement

Three hundred students received diplomas Thursday from Parker Junior High School. In a commencement ceremony at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, graduates were honored for their achievements as they were reminded that their educational journey resumes at the end of the summer.

New Parker classrooms will be ready for coming school year

Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a $7.5 million project that will add eight classrooms, a science room, art room and “after hours” entrance to Parker Junior High School in Flossmoor.

Morning commute plagued by downed wires in Homewood

Trains on Metra's electric line are experiencing significant delays Thursday after a wire problem stopped traffic at Homewood station.

A Metra notice posted at 6:48 a.m. reported the problem and noted, "The duration of this delay is unknown but extensive delay are anticipated."

At 7:31 a.m. Metra announced that traffic on Track No. 1 was open again but was moving slowly at Homewood.  

H-F school board members agree to technology improvements

Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s technology staff will be working over the summer to keep computer networks and equipment current.

During its May meeting, Gary Posing, director of Information Services, presented the H-F School Board with a list of recommended improvements. The board approved spending $494,403 to cover the costs for the new equipment and updates. 

Flossmoor woman killed in CTA bus crash Tuesday

A Flossmoor woman was killed in a bus crash Tuesday on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Aimee Coath, 51, was struck by the bus about 5:50 p.m. near Lake Street. Eight other people were injured in the crash, according to the report.
