Homewood Farmers Market responds to input from patrons and vendors as new season begins Saturday

Homewood Farmers Market patrons wanted a winter market. They got it. They want better visibility for crafts and collectables. It's coming. The summer market season will begin Saturday, May 23, and will run through Oct. 10. And on May 30, the market will include its first Hunter & Gatherer Market, which will continue on the last Saturday of each month.

As renovation ends, north entrance to Flossmoor Metra station reopening

A $4 million renovation project at Flossmoor’s Metra station is nearly complete. Village officials announced Friday that at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 22, barriers at the north pedestrian tunnel will be removed and the station elevator will go back into service.

Sunday's Walk of Hope raises funds for Cancer Support Center

More than 1,000 community members are expected to take part in The Cancer Support Center’s Walk of Hope this Sunday, May 17. The event is taking place at Commissioner’s Park, 22108 S. 80th Avenue in Frankfort.

For more than 20 years, The Center, with offices in Homewood and Mokena, has offered strength, guidance and support to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as to their loved ones.

Homewood proceeds with creation of new TIF district on 175th Street

Homewood officials believe the 175th Street business corridor needs an economic boost. Village trustees approved an ordinance Tuesday that continues the process of creating a new tax increment financing (TIF) district to replace one that was created in 2011 in the same area.
