Jazz series at Ravisloe is part of bigger vision — for musicians and for Homewood

When Grupo Cha Cha performs tonight at Ravisloe Country Club, area music lovers will have a chance to see the catalyst that led to the arrival of the True Muse jazz concert series in Homewood. 

Homewood proceeds with creation of new TIF district on 175th Street

Homewood officials believe the 175th Street business corridor needs an economic boost. Village trustees approved an ordinance Tuesday that continues the process of creating a new tax increment financing (TIF) district to replace one that was created in 2011 in the same area. 

Latin jazz returns to Ravisloe with Grupo Cha Cha on Thursday

Lise Gilly's Grupo Cha Cha, billed as  "The Lovely Ladies of Latin Jazz," will be next up in the TrueMuse jazz concert series with a show Thursday at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood.

Homewood Public Works to host open house Saturday

Orland junior high principal named to top post at Parker

Parker Junior High School has a new principal. David Kennedy, a 17-year teacher and administrator, has been appointed principal at Parker. Flossmoor School District 161 Superintendent Craig Doster announced the appointment at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.

Homewood trustees to consider next step in establishing new TIF district

Homewood trustees will considering moving forward on the formation of a new TIF district to replace one that was terminated in August. The meeting Tuesday, May 12, is at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Road.

Sneak peak: La Banque renovations near completion

La Voute Bistro is still taking shape, but in a little less than a month, the whine of power saws will be replaced: The sound will be of music and the wine will be by the glass.

The bistro is a key feature of the long-awaited La Banque boutique hotel on the northwest corner of Ridge Road and Martin Avenue.

Grand opening festivities will culminate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening June 13, and the hotel will be open to the public June 15. 

Richard Lites continues as H-F District 233 board president

A reconstituted Homewood-Flossmoor High School board elected Richard T. Lites its president for another term on May 4. David Mayer was elected vice president/secretary.
