"Bon Appétit!" is a comedy opera mimicking a classic Julia Child television broadcast. Witness an “episode” live on Sunday, March 1, at 4 p.m. at Governors State University’s Center for Performing Arts, according to a news release from the school.

On the agenda: Homewood trustees to consider street program, village hall renovations bid, science center concept plan contract

The two big-ticket items on the Homewood Board of Trustees agenda Tuesday, Feb. 10, are the 2015 street resurfacing program and renovations to Village Hall, totalling nearly $1 million. The board will also consider an $80,000 contract with Global Studios to pursue a concept plan for the development of a community science center, to be located in the former Ryan's Funeral Home.

District 161 superintendent questions value of state-mandated PARCC test

In a letter Friday to the Flossmoor School District 161 community, Superintendent Craig Doster questioned the value of the state-mandated PARCC test for local students and schools.

Date night with dad at annual Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Dance

The joy of having a daughter was evident when nearly 200 dads took their daughters on a special date Friday.

It was quite a fun party as little girls bopped and hopped with their dads at the Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Dance at the H-F Sports Complex.

For this special night, the girls, decked out in their fancy dresses, shiny shoes and hair done up with bows and ribbons, had their special guy open doors for them and take their coats. These gents came in suits and ties to make that special impression.
