Flossmoor investment funds frozen following scam

Flossmoor is taking steps to protect its municipal investments following a potentially far-reaching financial scam that is already tying up more than $50 million in government funds across Illinois.

Of Flossmoor's investment, $90,000 is directly affected by the case.

Harvey ordered to pay $26 million to Chicago

The city of Harvey has been ordered to pay Chicago $26 million in unpaid water bills, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune Thursday, Nov. 20.

Be careful out there: Freezing rain predicted overnight

Homewood and Flossmoor could see up to two-tenths of an inch of ice accumulate on area roads overnight, according to an alert posted by the National Weather Service.

A freezing rain advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, to 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

Road are expected to become treacherous during the advisory period. NWS officials urge motorists to drive slowly.

Winterfest coming to Flossmoor Library Dec. 6

Celebrate the holiday season with Winterfest at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., Saturday, Dec. 6.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. with children's story time, according to a information from Library Director Megan Millen.
