Area law enforcement agencies are searching for Rashad Williams, 24, of East Hazel Crest, in connection with the death of Tyrone Hardin, 38, of Riverdale, according to Harvey police and media reports.

The incident began about 4 p.m. Saturday when a woman reported to Harvey police that her car had been stolen. The vehicle was found crashed into the viaduct at 159th Street and Park Avenue. The suspect apparently ran onto the tracks and encountered Hardin, who was a contract worker for CN Railway.

Hardin was shot and later died at South Suburban Hospital, according to Harvey spokesman Sean Howard.

The suspect then stole a railway vehicle, which he later abandoned near 171st Street and Park Avenue in East Hazel Crest.

Howard urged residents in the area to be on alert and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.

“The suspect is armed and considered very dangerous,” Howard said on Saturday.
