H-F senior in ‘Distinguished Young Woman’ competition

Tiara Simms, daughter of Renee and Darrell Simms, will be representing Homewood in the Tuesday, Aug. 1, competition for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Illinois.

The program will be held in Tinley Park.

The Distinguished Young Women competition, formerly known as America’s Junior Miss, is open to high school seniors. Contestants are evaluated on scholastics, an interview, talent, fitness and self-expression. Winners are eligible for college scholarships.

Tiara will be a senior at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. Her hobbies and athletic involvement include track and field, karate and swimming. Tiara will share her karate talents during the state program with an A Kata demonstration: Himino 3.
