Golf outing to benefit special needs children and adults

New Star, a not-for-profit organization serving special needs children and adults in the South Suburbs, is hosting its annual “Fore” the Future Golf Outing on Monday, Sept. 25.

The event at Idlewild Country Club, 18860 Dixie Highway in Homewood, will include a barbeque lunch on the terrace, 18 holes of golf, games, prizes, cocktails and a buffet dinner. All-inclusive golf packages are $175 per person, and dinner-only packages are $55 per person.

Sponsorships are still available and range from $175 to $3,500.

Event proceeds support job training and employment, daily life skills enrichment, senior care, residential services and special recreation for over 650 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who reside in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana.

New Star has built a six-unit apartment building at 1032 and 1038 Leavitt Ave. in Flossmoor that will be home to developmentally disabled adults who want to live independently.
