Artists performing Oct. 14 in domestic violence benefit

Artists from the South Suburbs will be performing Oct. 14 in “eNOugh: Arts Against Abuse,” a program of original dance, theatre, song, poetry and spoken word.

The presentation is at 8 p.m. at The Drama Group’s Milord Studio Theatre 330 W. 202nd Street in Chicago Heights. Admission is $15.

The artists’ program marks October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Proceeds will benefit programs to prevent domestic violence and support domestic violence victims.

Organizer Kaleigh Michelle Wood, a south suburban artist, musician and teacher, will use proceeds from the event to help cover her goal of raising $1,000 for the Run Domestic Violence Out of Town team competing in the Chicago Marathon Oct. 8. Wood is expected to run a half marathon for the domestic violence support benefit.

South Suburban Family Shelter in Homewood is one of 10 domestic violence agencies that share proceeds from the Run Domestic Violence Out of Town team.

Tickets for “eNOugh: Arts Against Abuse” can be purchased through the website brownpapertickets.com.
