Friday deadline to apply for Homewood library director position

Candidates have until Friday, April 5, to apply for the job as director of Homewood Public Library. A new executive director is expected to be named May 9.

Candidates have until Friday, April 5, to apply for the job as director of Homewood Public Library.

The board is working with consulting firm Bradbury Miller to find a replacement for Amy Crump who left the director’s position in December. She had been on staff for nearly six years.

As of mid-week, 14 candidates from across the country had applied for the job, said Kathy Parker, acting director. She expects the final number to be closer to 20 applicants. The consultants are sending each person a questionnaire. The answers from each applicant will be presented to the library board for review.

The library board’s next meeting on Wednesday, April 17, will begin at 6 p.m., and after regular business the board will move into executive session for discussion via Skype with a representative of the consulting firm, Parker said.

The board is expected to select up to a half-dozen candidates for interviews April 30 and May 1. From that group, the final two or three candidates will be invited to Homewood for in-person interviews, Parker said.

A new executive director is expected to be named May 9.

A start date in Homewood will depend on the new director’s current work situation, Parker explained.
