On Saturday, April 27, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra presents “From Wit to Wonder: A Mozart Celebration,” featuring Robert Chen, acclaimed violinist and concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The program, conducted by IPO Maestro Stilian Kirov, showcases the range of Mozart’s melodic gifts. The concert begins at 7:30pm at Ozinga Chapel, 6601 W. College Drive on the campus of Trinity Christian College.

This all-Mozart performance features some of Mozart’s most famous and lovable works including: overture to “The Marriage of Figaro,” k. 492,  “Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major,” k. 219, commonly called “Turkish,” and “Symphony No. 41 in C Major,” k. 551 commonly called “Jupiter.”

Chen will give a free pre-concert lecture from 6:25 to 6:50 p.m. The program will be moderated by Elizabeth Huffman, IPO’s assistant concertmaster.

“Mozart’s genius music is quite immortal. His works are quite extraordinary and timeless,” said Kirov. “You never get tired of Mozart. We thought that an all-Mozart program would be a nice musical gift to our audiences. It is really an evening of musical celebration, and I am sure everyone will feel enormous joy and inspiration experiencing Chen’s colorful rendition of Violin Concerto No. 5 and Mozart’s other immortal works.”

Chen’s visit is sponsored by Four Seasons Heating and Cooling, in loving memory of Jozef Maka.

Concert single tickets start at $27 in advance. Student tickets are $10, and group tickets are available with a minimum of seven patrons. Ticketing fees may apply.
