Homewood trustees call special meeting to discuss Calumet Country Club

Homewood trustees will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, to provide an update to the community on the propose redevelopment of Calumet Country Club, 175th Street and Dixie Highway.

The meeting will be held at the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road.

The board held a special meeting July 18 to inform residents that a petition had been filed in Cook County Circuit Court in which the owners of the golf course property, CCC Investors LLC, asked to have the property disconnected from Homewood.

The move came after several months of negotiations between a prospective developer and village officials did not result in agreement about the future use of the land.

Arizona developer Walt Brown’s most recent proposal would eliminate the golf course and build a commercial fulfillment trucking center there.

During the July special meeting, village officials said they were considering a range of ideas for how to respond to the situation.
