Charges are pending against a man after he attempted to elude a Flossmoor police officer in the vicinity of Heather Hill School on Friday morning.
The incident triggered a Code Yellow lockdown at the school for less than a half hour, Flossmoor police said in an email community alert.
At approximately 8:33 a.m. on Feb. 15, Heather Hill administrators issued a Code Yellow lockdown due to police activity in the vicinity of the building. With a Code Yellow, all interior and exterior doors are locked and all window shades are drawn. There was no direct threat to Heather Hill School, 1439 Lawrence Crescent, and no injuries were reported.
Two minutes before the start of the lockdown, a Flossmoor officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop along Lawrence Crescent for a traffic violation, Police Chief Michael Pulec said.
The driver refused to stop, attempting to elude the officer. The driver then pulled into a driveway where the officer attempted to place him into custody. The driver resisted arrest and attempted to flee resulting in his being Tasered by an assisting officer. He was taken into custody and cleared by paramedics.
Charges are pending and include resisting arrest, battery to a police officer, driving without a license, a minor traffic violation and an active no-bond warrant out of Florida.
The Code Yellow lockdown was lifted around 9 a.m. after officers left the scene.
Pulec stated the incident was over within five minutes of the initial attempted traffic stop.
