Police to conduct drill Thursday at Willow School in Homewood

Homewood officials urge residents near Willow School in Homewood not to call 911 if they see police presence in the area on Thursday morning.

The Homewood Police Department, in cooperation with School District 153, will conduct a critical incident drill from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 25, at the school, 1804 Willow Road.

Homewood police units will respond to a staged incident with assistance from neighboring law enforcement agencies.

This drill focuses on coordinating response and communication between Homewood departments as well as with other south suburban emergency units. The Homewood Fire Department, Public Works Department and volunteer role players will also participate in the drill.

The drill will take place when the school is closed and students will not be in attendance. 

The following streets will be closed to traffic during the drill:

  • Willow Road, between Homewood Avenue and Marshfield Avenue.
  • Gladville Avenue, between Evergreen Road and 184th Place.
  • 184th Place, between Marshfield Avenue and Gladville Avenue.
Residents in these areas will continue to have access to their homes during the drill. However, residents living on Willow Road should park their vehicles on Highland, Page or Gladville before 8 a.m.
