A 28-year-old man was killed Tuesday evening during an altercation at a residence in the 2500 block of Central Drive, according to Flossmoor police.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Jordan Averyheart and listed the cause of death as multiple sharp force injuries.

Police responded to the residence at about 8 p.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance.

Officers spoke with two women and a man outside the residence. They informed officers that Averyheart had been stabbed during a confrontation. All three were detained for questioning.

Officers began emergency treatment, and Averyheart was subsequently transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was later pronounced dead.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Flossmoor police in investigating the incident, according to Flossmoor Police Chief Tod Kamleiter.

“We are certain this is an isolated incident,” he said. “There is no threat to the public,” Kamleiter said.

An update will be provided when more information is available, Kamleiter said.
