Seven vehicle break-ins reported this week in Flossmoor

Flossmoor police are reminding residents to lock their cars at night following a series of vehicle break-ins this week.

In an email alert, police said there were break-ins to seven vehicles on the 2600 block of Central Drive and Flossmoor Road between 5 and 6 a.m. on April 8.

All the vehicles were unlocked except for one where the unknown perpetrator broke a window. The vehicle with the damaged window had a bag in view that resembled a purse, which was the item that was taken.

The caller who reported the smashed window heard the incident and observed a man fleeing the scene. He is described as about five foot, seven inches tall with an average build and black winter hat and a black hooded sweatshirt. The witness said the man entered a black utility vehicle with a missing taillight. The vehicle headed north on Leavitt Avenue.

The other six vehicles that were entered were discovered by patrol units surveying the area.

Any residents with security cameras in this area are encouraged to review footage from that morning and come forward with any information that may help the Flossmoor Police Department’s investigation.
