Homewood launches COVID-19 response through May 31

Mayor Richard Hofeld announced on Friday, March 20, the Village of Homewood’s response to COVID-19 includes suspending administrative hearings and non-essential administrative services, postponing vehicle sticker purchases and taking online payments only. Village events are also canceled through May 31.

Mayor Hofeld and Village Manger Jim Marino released a video statement to residents outlining the changes and posted it at www.HomeSweetHomewood.com. They also emphasized the seriousness of the situation and urged residents to take precautions as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control.

“The village is working hard to help ensure the continued safety of all of our residents and village staff,” Mayor Hofeld said. “The village continues to closely follow recommended protocols from the CDC and the Illinois Department of Public Health and has contingency protocols in place should the virus impact village staff and the community.”

The village is suspending all non-critical services provided by first responders (i.e., fire inspections, water meter inspections and replacements). First responders will continue to respond to 911 calls.
