Two local Jewish organizations sponsor Good Deeds Day charity electronics collection

National Council of Jewish Women South Cook Section and JUF Tikkun Olam Volunteer Network (TOV) are hosting an electronics collection from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday to benefit several local charities.

Organizers are asking area residents to donate electronic devices, including

  • Computers, desktops and laptops, and accessories like keyboards and mouses.
  • Cellphones and accessories like chargers.
  • Tablets and accessories like chargers.

PCs for People will refurbish and redistribute the items to households in need.

The event is part of Good Deeds Day, an international day of service that was started in Israel in 2007. In 2019, 3.9 million volunteers from 108 countries around the world engaged in projects that made a difference to those in need. More than 1,000 volunteers participated in 50 projects locally.
