19 teachers join tenure ranks in District 153

The Homewood District 153 school board approved tenure for 19 teachers serving students at Willow, Churchill and James Hart Schools.

The board, at its March meeting, agreed with recommendations of staff to accelerate tenure for Robin Noble, the French teacher for seventh and eighth graders at Hart, and for Jennifer Ostruszka, Response to Interventions Coordinator at James Hart.

Teachers can receive accelerated tenure if they have received three consecutive overall annual evaluations of “excellent.”

The board also extended tenure to 17 teachers who have been with the district for four years. They are:

  • Nicole Blalock, physical education teacher at James Hart
  • Cynthia Blocker, speech pathologist at Willow
  • Greg Brown, third grade teacher at Churchill
  • Elizabeth Dedo, kindergarten teacher at Willow
  • Taylor Hogan, third grade teacher at Churchill
  • Dawn Hanzie, resource teacher at Churchill
  • Michael Lagger, seventh grade teacher at James Hart
  • Jessica Lenti, seventh grade teacher at James Hart
  • Michele Macleod, kindergarten teacher at Willow
  • Lucy Mullane, fourth grade teacher at Churchill
  • Megan O’Brien-Jasutis, kindergarten teacher at Willow
  • Nikki Polimenakos, reading specialist at James Hart
  • Suzzanne Riedel-Fonner, kindergarten teacher at Willow
  • Mary Williams, first grade teacher at Willow
  • Michael Witkowski, physical education teacher at Willow
  • Damaris Woodbury, English Language Learner teacher at Willow
