Calumet Country Club will no longer be part of Homewood after the Board of Trustees approved an ordinance Tuesday to disconnect the property from the village.
The move was required by a settlement agreement the village entered into with the property owner in January. Disconnection was sought by the previous owner of the property, CCC Investors LLC, and subsequently by the current owner, Diversified Partners, because the village refused to approve an industrial use for the land.
Members of South Suburbs for Greenspace Over Concrete gathered prior to the meeting to protest the disconnection, and a number of them spoke during the meeting, passionately urging trustees to vote against the ordinance.
