Homewood man charged in crash death released on bond

The Homewood man allegedly responsible for a fatal traffic crash on 183rd Street last summer was released on bond Thursday night, as he awaits trial on a number of charges.

Lindsey Anderson, a 21-year-old from the 18600 block of May Avenue, turned himself in to Homewood Police on Jan. 9.

At a subsequent court hearing, Anderson’s bond was set at $100,000.

Court documents show Anderson’s mother, Ericka Clarke, posted $10,000 bail for her son on Thursday evening, the 10% required for his release pending trial.

Anderson’s next court appearance is set for Jan. 21.

Anderson is charged with four crimes related to the crash that happened at 5:11 p.m. on July 22, 2020, at 183rd Street and Center Avenue.

He had been traveling westbound on 183rd Street when his Porsche collided with a Buick driven by Dominique Wood, a 19-year-old from Merrillville, Ind.

Wood, whose car was proceeding across the westbound lanes from the stop sign southbound on Center Avenue, later died from his injuries.

Homewood police said that the Traffic Collision Analysis Report from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team determined Anderson was traveling 66 miles per hour at the time of impact.

Related to the crash, Anderson’s charges include reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of cannabis.

Anderson is also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a firearm for a gun he was carrying loaded, uncased and within his reach.

According to Homewood Police, that firearm was reported stolen to Indianapolis Police Department in June 2019. Anderson doesn’t have a firearms or concealed carry license.

The fourth charge relates to Anderson’s possession of about 283 grams of cannabis in candy and plant form.
