H-F Girls Track & Field team takes 2nd place in state

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School girls track and field team had outstanding outcomes in major events and their collective score brought home the second place trophy from the IHSA track & field state competition Saturday on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.

Sophomore Ana-Liese Torian won three individual honors: First for 100-meter hurdles, second for 200 dash and ninth in 100 dash.

Alexandria Edison took second in 400 dash.

Distance runner Caroline Schoen placed 13th in 1600 and seventh in 3200.

The 4xX100 relay team took second place. Team members are Imani Warner, Angela Alozie, Alexandria Edison and Ana-Liese Torian.

The 4×200 relay team took eighth place. Team members are Adriana Brunson, Isis Phillips, Imani Warner and Audriana Gant.

The 4×400 relay team took ninth place. Team members are Elizabeth Watson, Angela Alozie, Daija Brown and Adriana Brunson.

Coach Terrance Terry said the meet was “a really good experience” and he was appreciative of IHSA hosting a state championship meet, especially since the 2020 season ended abruptly due to schools shutting down as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the nation.
