18-year-old dead after Halloween weekend shooting in Flossmoor

An 18-year-old South Holland man succumbed to injuries he sustained during a Halloween weekend shooting in Flossmoor’s Ballantrae neighborhood, according to Police Chief Tod Kamleiter.

Cook County Medical Examiner records show that Kevin R. Jones, of the 16800 block of Ingleside Avenue, was pronounced dead at 12:49 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.

Police have no suspects in the shooting, which injured three additional people who were attending a party in the 3800 block of Ballantrae Way in Flossmoor.

“There was a party at a residence and an altercation took place outside while people were leaving,” Kamleiter said.

When police responded to calls of a disturbance and gunfire at the home shortly after midnight, they found the four shooting victims and administered medical aid.

Three of the victims, including Jones, were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where Jones later died. One victim was taken to Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields.

Kamleiter would not comment on the injuries sustained by the three surviving victims, or their conditions.

He said police are still working to identify the offender. It is unknown whether the shots were fired from a vehicle.
