Flossmoor School Board welcomes new members

The Flossmoor School Board swore in two newly elected members and one incumbent member on Monday. The candidates ran uncontested for three four-year terms in the April 2 election. Michelle Hoereth of Flossmoor was re-elected to the board with 2,806 votes, while David Linnear of Flossmoor was elected with 2,724 votes and Christina Popolla-Vlietstra of Chicago Heights was elected with 2,777 votes, according to official results.

 

'No more blackface!' HF students walkout in protest of viral blackface video

The black, green, and red of the Pan African flag rippled under a rain filled sky yesterday afternoon, as H-F students, alum and parents took to Kedzie avenue in protest of the blackface incident involving four students the previous week. [Story updated at 10:15 a.m.]
 

Readey wants to expand ‘new and effective’ leadership on PSC board

On April 30, Flossmoor resident Jay Readey was sworn onto Prairie State College’s Board of Trustees for a six-year term. He says a career of service in law and community development drew him to the PSC board. 

H-F Theatre presents ‘Into the Woods’

“Into the Woods,” the spring musical at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, will be presented at 7 p.m. May 2, 3 and 4 in the Mall Auditorium, 999 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor. The Tony-award winning score by Stephen Sondheim brings to life characters from favorite storybooks, including Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. This show is recommended for audience members 14 and older.
 

H-F students walk out of classes over blackface incident

The rains broke long enough for about 1,000 Homewood-Flossmoor High School students to march in protest outside the school campus around noon Tuesday, to make their voices heard about a recent incident that has inflamed the community.
