Music accompanied by 'Aurora Triptych' film at IPO concert on Saturday

The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will present a multi-media concert, “The World Beyond: Where Music and Nature Meet,” with music accompanying beautiful displays of the Aurora Triptych at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, at Ozinga Chapel at Trinity Christian College, 6601 W. College Drive in Palos Park.
 

H-F cheerleaders win twice at 35th annual cheer competition

Homewood-Flossmoor High School has two more trophies thanks to the outstanding work of two cheerleading squads. After qualifying for the meet in December, the two H-F cheerleading teams were among more than 80 teams given five minutes to perform routines at the 35th Annual Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association championships Jan. 5 and 6 in Springfield. 

Sustainability in the South Suburbs outlined Feb. 8

Registration is being accepted for the Growing Sustainable Communities Together program on Feb. 8 hosted by the South Metropolitan Higher Education Consortium.
 
The day-long program will feature speakers addressing major issues that can help ensure quality of life in the South Suburbs. The program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.
 

Metra Electric Line service suspended Saturday

Metra announced Friday that it will extend its cancellation of  Electric Line service through Saturday, Feb. 2.

‘Vagina Monologues’ Feb. 9 at Prairie State to benefit SSFS

“The Vagina Monologues” will be performed by local women at a benefit performance at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Prairie State College Barnes and Noble Theatre, 202 S. Halsted, Chicago Heights.

This year’s performance is the fourth in a series of benefit shows that have raised money for the South Suburban Family Shelter.
