GSU Center for Performing Arts previews 2019-20 season

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Governors State University (GSU), the university's Center for Performing Arts presented a preview of its 2019-20 season, which begins in September and continues through April, 2020.

Governor Pritzker appoints 6 to serve on GSU board

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has nominated six candidates for positions on the Board of Governors of Governors State University. Nominees are Kevin Brookins, John Brudnak, Lisa Harrell, Angela Hickey, James Kvedaras joining Anibal Taboas, who currently serves on the board. Board members serve for six-year terms.
 

Doubles bowlers win top prize in national championship

Homewood resident Gregory Mollett Jr. and his bowling partner Jeremy Delby of Park Forest took the doubles title in the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships in July. They won the grand prize, a bronze Eagle. Only 32 bowlers, out of 65,000 competitors who started the competition, won this grand prize.

 

Homewood Heights all stars compete at state

Homewood Heights Little League’s 9-, 10- and 11-year-old All-Star team competed in the state championships in LaSalle, Ill., at the end of July. The team earned a spot in the state bracket by winning both the Sub State Tournament in River Forest and their own District 6 tournament in Chicago Heights.

Homewood board denounces trucking center plans

The Homewood Board of Trustees have denounced plans for a trucking center development in place of the Calumet Country Club.
 
During a special meeting July 18, board members and Mayor Rich Hofeld were in agreement that the proposed plans by Arizona-based Diversified Partners CRE would be too intense for the area.
