The St. Andrew Players of Homewood will present a holiday-themed musical, “Uh-Oh Here Comes Christmas,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, according to a news release from the church.

Following the Players’ two successful runs of “The Christmas Schooner,” this play is lighter fare — part musical and part storytelling. It is a break from all the standard holiday stories. “Uh Oh, Here Comes Christmas” is a funny, heartwarming and often poignant look at the struggle to find the spirit of the holidays amid the avalanche of commercialism, stress and chaos that crashes down every December.

The show is based on holiday essays from the best-selling author, Robert Fulghum, (“All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”). Vignettes range from the poignant tale of a trick-or-treating immigrant child in a Santa mask to the hilarious recounting of a Christmas pageant donkey run amok.

The show is directed by Mary Lee Hoganson, with musical direction by Jane Hindsley. The cast includes Dennis Carlson, Robert Hindsley, Mary Lee Hoganson, Noel Patterson, Susan Poole and Eric Rechsteiner, all of Homewood; and Irene and Timothy Mercer of Chicago Heights.

Performances take place at St. Andrew UMC, 18850 Riegel Road, Homewood. Tickets may be ordered by phoning 708-798-8904 and are priced at $10 in advance, or $12 at the door. A special price is available for groups of 10 or more.

For more information contact Hoganson at 708-799-3658 or [email protected].
