Chocolate heaven

U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly is sponsoring an annual Congressional Art Competition open to high school students residing or attending a school within the 2nd Congressional District.

The winner’s artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for a year, and the winner will be invited to attend an unveiling ceremony in Washington, D.C., this summer.

Students can submit their artwork at Kelly’s district office, 600 Holiday Plaza Drive, Suite 505 in Matteson. Submissions will be accepted between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through March 31.

Submissions must be original an painting, drawing, collage, print, photograph, computer-generated art or mixed media two-dimensional pieces. The work should be framed no larger than 28 by 28 by 4 inches.

Kelly will host an 11 a.m. April 18 reception at Prairie State College’s Christopher Art Gallery in Chicago Heights announcing the winner and runners-up.

The Congressional Art Competition was established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 to acknowledge and support the artistic talent of America’s young adults.
