H-F homecoming victory is a blowout

Homewood-Flossmoor High School students, alumni and community supporters had plenty to cheer about on Friday, Sept. 7, as the Vikings football team won the homecoming game 46-0.

It was the third victory in the young season for the Vikings. The team welcomed Stagg High School for the first of only four seasonal games to be played at H-F.
Despite two sacks against the Vikings, Stagg never got its game going. The Vikings had 29 first downs compared to just seven for Stagg. Vikings total yards was 588. Stage was held to just 92 yards. The Vikings got 215 yards from a great passing game and allowed Stagg  just 28 passing yards.
Throughout the week, H-F had a variety of events to gear up to the big game on Friday. The school colors of red and white were evident throughout the school and at Thursday’s pep rally.
Football coach Craig Buzea believes the team can be a powerhouse again this year. The Vikings have been in the playoffs the past eight years.
The day started off with light rain, but that didn’t spoil the annual golf outing hosted by the H-F Foundation, a volunteer organization that raises money to support the school’s many extracurricular activities.
Everyone who golfed got a ticket to the homecoming game.
