Dozens of volunteers gave their time Saturday for the annual Recyclepalooza event staged by the Flossmoor Green Commission.
Drivers were greeted by volunteers for an easy, COVID-19 protected event. All volunteers were masked and donors did not need to get out of their cars. Volunteers did all the work accepting a wide variety of items – from shoes and sports equipment to old TVs, electronics and even a snowblower.
The three-hour event at the Parker Junior High parking lot had volunteers from the Green Commission and students from Parker Junior High and Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
It was just one of two events hosted by the Flossmoor Green Commission. A separate crew was out planting 25 trees as part of the Chicago Tree Initiative.
Stephanie Wright, a village spokesperson, said in all 75 people volunteered their time Saturday.
