Homewood police say shooting on Saturday was homicide (free content)

Homewood police said Tuesday that a shooting death on Saturday was the result of a homicide. 

Police identified the victim as Robert James Jr. of Country Club Hills. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office reported that James was 48 years old. 

James was found in an office in the 900 block of 175th Street about 10:30 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s report. 

Police said the attack was not random, and that there is no imminent danger to the community. Police believe James was targeted by his attacker. 

A suspect has been identified, and the investigation continues. Homewood police are working with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
