New arts organization's gallery opens Thursday

The Homewood Arts Council is planning the Thursday grand opening of its art gallery at 2023 Ridge Road from 6 to 10 p.m. For local art lovers, it will be a prelude to Homewood's Artisan Street Fair, which begins on Friday.

mARTin Avenue: Color, sound and science return for 9th Art & Garden Fair

For a few hours during last year's Homewood Art & Garden Fair, a one-block stretch of Martin Avenue asphalt became a canvas on which local artists unleashed their imaginations. It will be again when Chalk of the Town returns from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, as part of the ninth annual festival, which will fill downtown Homewood with food, music, art and activities for families.

Homewood Farmers Market welcomes patrons, vendors back for a new summer season

Patrons took advantage of a near-perfect spring day Saturday to flock to the opening session of Homewood Farmers Market's summer season. The first session of the new Hunt & Gather market was planned for Saturday but has been postponed to June 6 because of a wet weather forecast. The farmers market will be open, rain or shine.

In December 2015 we began monthly print publication, too. Our mission is to chronicle the life of our community — news by, for, and about the people of Homewood and Flossmoor, Illinois.
