Homewood trustees approve measures to help craft brewer over hurdles

With three measures approved by Homewood trustees Tuesday, Vice District is poised to begin the buildout process, and the owners hope to have the craft brewery and taproom open early in 2017.
The board approved $100,000 in business incentive funding, a special use permit and a resolution of support for the company's application to Cook County for Class 8 property tax relief.

Homewood hires consultant to help with development projects

Homewood officials have spent more than half a year laying the foundation for new redevelopment projects in the downtown area. On Tuesday, Aug. 23, one more piece was added to that foundation. Trustees approved a budget amendment for $83,750 and authorized Village President Richard Hofeld to enter into a contract with SB Friedman Development Advisors to serve as financial consultants for transit-oriented and other development projects.

[Updated at 10:25 a.m. Monday] There might be relatively few vehicles running on compressed natural gas, but if the alternative fuel catches on, Homewood will be ready. Homewood Disposal held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, July 21, to unveil its new CNG fueling facility at 1501 W. 175th St. In Homewood, and it includes a public fueling station.
