Victim’s description, police ID led to Flossmoor robbery arrests

Four suspects are in custody following Thursday’s armed robbery in Flossmoor and a 40-mile chase ending in north suburban Park Ridge.

A day later, as law enforcement agencies sorted out the details of the incident and looked ahead to possible criminal charges, it was increasingly clear that the arrests were never a sure thing.

A number of factors fell into place, said Tod Kamleiter, Flossmoor’s deputy police chief.

Flossmoor police sergeant completes Northwestern Staff and Command program

During a recent executive management course, Sgt. Keith Taylor, of the Flossmoor Police Department, examined the implementation of body cameras in law enforcement. Taylor wrote a research paper on body cameras as part of his class work in Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC). 

Flossmoor Citizen Police Academy offering session in early 2016

Enrollment is underway for the Flossmoor Citizen Policy Academy’s next session. The 12-week program is designed to give local residents a working knowledge of how the police department operates. During the program, participants will have a chance to ride along with officers on patrol, use the department’s firing range and role-play situations that law enforcement personnel routinely encounter.

Woman rescued from last weekend’s Flossmoor fire dies

Six days after fire swept through a house on Hagen Lane in Flossmoor, the woman who was rescued from the blaze has died.

Josephine R. Tropp was pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. An autopsy by the office was planned for Saturday. Pending an autopsy, the cause of death is not known. Flossmoor Deputy Fire Chief Tod Kamleiter said Friday it is likely to be related to smoke inhalation.
