Flossmoor nixes license request for proposed restaurant with gambling plans

A split village board Monday rejected the latest proposal for a restaurant/bar in Flossmoor that would include video gambling machines.

Trustees were divided, with three voting in favor of a liquor license for Lucky Dog, a chain of restaurants, bars, convenience stores, coin-operated laundries and truck stops throughout the Midwest. Three other trustees were against the proposal and Mayor Paul Braun broke the deadlock by voting against the liquor license.

Winners of this spring’s municipal election were sworn in at the June 5 Flossmoor village board meeting. Brian Driscoll, Flossmoor’s newest village trustee, took the oath of office along with three incumbent board members — Mayor Paul Braun and Trustees Diane Williams and Philip Minga. Joni Bradley Scott, the new village clerk, was also sworn in.

Dental office expansion includes former Governors Highway bank site

The Center for Dental Excellence is planning a major expansion of its offices in Flossmoor’s “triangle” area, near the junction of Kedzie Avenue and Governors Highway.

At the March 6 meeting, Flossmoor village board members unanimously voted in favor of a package allowing the consolidation and redevelopment of parcels at 19615 and 19601 Governors Highway.

Village officials will help remove pile of trash at Flossmoor residence

Five Flossmoor village board members are volunteering to help remove a big pile of residential trash this weekend.

At Monday’s board meeting Mayor Paul Braun asked for volunteers to help with the planned Saturday morning clean-up of the trash, located next to a house on Avers Avenue. Four village trustees ― James Wilder, James Mitros, Perry Hoag and Philip Minga ― agreed to help get rid of the garbage.
