Bond rating agency drops H-F score one point

After a review by Standard & Poors of the finances of District 233, the bond rating agency dropped the district’s rating by a point.

The district now has a rating of AA+. It had been rated AAA the past six years. Even with the step down, the Homewood-Flossmoor High School district is still among 32 high schools across the state to have the AA+ rating, according to District 233 Business Manager Lawrence Cook.

H-F football taking on state power Lincoln Way East in quarterfinals

Homewood-Flossmoor knows exactly what it’s in for when it takes on Lincoln Way East in the quarterfinals of the state series Saturday.
“East is the gold standard in Illinois football. They have had everybody’s number," Vikings coach Craig Buzea said. "We are glad to have the opportunity to compete once again versus the best in Illinois and one of the premier programs in the nation.” 

H-F High girls volleyball moving up in state competition

The girls volleyball team at Homewood-Flossmoor High School is moving into IHSA Sectionals play after winning in regional competition Oct. 29. H-F came out a winner, defeating Thornton High 25-4 and 25-10, giving the team the opportunity to move into sectionals.

On Oct. 31, the team defeated Shepard High 25-16 and 25-20. They next will play Monday, Nov. 4, against Andrew High. If the team's success continues, they will play again Wednesday, Nov. 6.

H-F High hosts breakfast for senior citizens Oct. 16

Senior citizens in the Homewood-Flossmoor community are invited to a complimentary breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Homewood-Flossmoor High School North Building Cafeteria. 
The North Building is accessible via the Governors Highway campus entrance. The event includes an overview of the school by administrators, musical entertainment and a student-guided tour.

H-F High offers student athletes special care from athletic trainers

When athletes at Homewood-Flossmoor High School turn up with sprained ankles, broken bones and the occasional concussion, they get excellent care from two professional athletic trainers. In spring 2019, the work of Brad Kleine and Danni Werner of Athletico Physical Therapy won H-F the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Safe Sports School Award.
