Dear Editor,

The voters of Cook County have a real chance to effect change on Nov. 8.

Near the end of the ballot (after all the judges) is a binding referendum to eliminate the elected Recorder of Deeds position and transfer the duties of that office to the Cook County clerk. 

H-F League of Women Voters supporting efforts to end Illinois’ budget stalemate

As IIlinois moves into its fifth month without a state budget, the Homewood-Flossmoor Area League of Women Voters has joined with other independent organizations hoping a Nov. 18 meeting of legislative leaders will begin serious discussions to end the deadlock.

Residents invited to raise questions, discuss issues at 'Drinks and Dialogue' event

The Homewood-Flossmoor League of Women Voters is recruiting for new members, inviting them to a Drinks and Dialogue event at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at Grape and Grain, 18031 Dixie Highway. 

Local legislators not hopeful about quick end to budget impasse

Local legislators believe the impasse in Springfield is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. At a Homewood-Flossmoor League of Women Voters program Sept. 9, Rep. Al Riley (D-Hazel Crest), Rep. Will Davis (D-East Hazel Crest) and Rep. Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights) offered insights into the issues confronting state government.
