Storytelling program features Anna Shimojima June 13

Anne Shimojima is the featured teller for the June 13 “Tales to Wet Your Whistle.”

The program, for storytellers and story listeners, begins at 7 p.m. at Redbird Café, 2057 Ridge Road in Homewood. Guests are welcome to the free event starting at 6:45 p.m. 
“Tales to Wet Your Whistle” is held the second Wednesday of each month. In addition to a guest presenter, the program includes an open mic option for anyone wishing to tell a story.

Storytelling by and for adults begins Feb. 8

“Tales to Wet Your Whistle,” a storytelling open mic program for adults with something to share and those who enjoy listening, starts Feb. 8 and continues on Wednesdays through July.  

The program, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., is co-sponsored by the Homewood Public Library and Grape & Grain Co.  The shows will start at 7 p.m. at Grape & Grain, 18031 Dixie Highway in Homewood. There is no cover charge.

Homewood will be the center of the storytelling world (in the south suburbs, anyway) Tuesday, Feb. 17, as two events will present talented tellers. Nationally known storytellers will headline the events, with Tim Tingle (right) performing Homewood Public Library and Megan Wells (left) topping the program at Homewood Stories.

Homewood library to host storyteller from National Association of Black Storytellers Nov. 13

Homewood Public Library will be hosting storyteller Mitch Capel at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, according to a news release from the library.

Capel is a storyteller, recording artist, poet, actor and author. He has been bringing stories to life and delighting audiences throughout the United States with his warmth, wit and compelling storytelling style since 1985.
