Demolition of former Triumph Building about to begin with some disruptions to parking, traffic

The former Triumph Building is about to come down, with demolition scheduled to start Monday, Aug. 16. Demolition could take a month or more.

Downtown businesses will remain open and accessible during demolition and construction, according to Village Manager Jim Marino, but some temporary street closures might disrupt traffic occasionally during the project.

The demise of the vacant Triumph Building is near. 

Demolition is expected to proceed in coming weeks as the longtime retail center at the corner of Ridge Road and Martin Avenue makes way for a four story residential structure with a ground floor restaurant.

The final approval was granted at the Homewood Board of Trustees regular meeting on July 27.

HCF Homewood LLC plans to demolish the one-story Triumph Building at 2033 Ridge Road and will replace it with a four-story mixed-use structure that will contain a 5,800 square-foot first floor space to be used as a restaurant or for retail, 18 hotel rooms associated with La Banque Hotel on the second floor and 24 apartments on the third and fourth floors. 

Redevelopment closer for Triumph Building site in Homewood

Homewood trustees will consider a measure Tuesday to seek additional bidders on a project to redevelop the site on the southwest corner of Ridge Road and Martin Avenue. The building at 2033 Ridge Road, commonly referred to as the Triumph Building, was purchased last year by the village for the purpose of finding a developer to construct a mixed-use building there.
