The event was announced at the Village Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday, Sept. 9, by Homewood Heritage Committee Chairwoman Elaine Egdorf. A reception will begin at noon at Calumet Country Club, followed by luncheon and induction ceremony at 1 p.m. The cost is $45.

The Village of Homewood and other south suburban municipalities did not receive the court ruling they hoped for in a continuing legal battle with the City of Harvey, according to village officials.
Homewood and other suburbs that buy water from Harvey have joined the City of Chicago in requesting a third party be appointed to handle Harvey's water revenues.
Crows might want to think twice about visiting Homewood. The first Scarecrow Contest, sponsored by the village Community Relations Committee, has resulted in a small army of scarecrows to protect the community.
The contest was held at Fall Fest on Sept. 20, and village officials plan to post the entries throughout the downtown area soon to keep the village entertained and crow-free for several weeks, at least.
